NJ Sweet Sixteen Celebration

  • The Sweet Sixteen is the coveted party for all tween and teen girls. Every girl looks forward to that big party where she can wear a fancy dress, don a tiara, and spend the evening feeling like a princess. Sweet Sixteen girls have the chance to create a party that is all their own. Planning this party is a taste of adulthood for her. She can give her opinion, voice her desires, and have those plans come to fruition. Not to mention being responsible for writing the thank you cards afterwards.

Don’t delay in the party planning! Sweet Sixteens aren’t as simple as they used to be. When you think of a Sweet Sixteen you probably think of big gowns, tiaras, balloons, and a swarm of teenagers. While the traditional candle ceremony and popular music selections are still Sweet Sixteen staples, there is so much more that goes into making those Sweet Sixteen dreams… well, sweet! One key component to any party, big or small, is the music. It is key to choose a DJ/Entertainment company that is willing to work with you to ensure that the Sweet Sixteen goes off without a hitch.

Once you’ve chosen your date and found the perfect venue to celebrate your princess’s Sweet Sixteen, you have a few more big decisions to make. What’s your theme? Will it be a Winter Wonderland, a Fairytale Story, or must absolutely everything be bright pink? Not to mention the struggle it will be to help your daughter choose who will be in her Court (she’s mad at Becky this week, but you know it’ll all blow over by the party). But even more important than the theme is your entertainment crew.

Sweet Sixteen DJ/Entertainment

The DJ/Entertainment company that you choose is essential to pulling off your theme. Whether it’s adding snow flurries to welcome your guests into a Winter Wonderland, providing fog to bring the Daddy/Daughter dance into the clouds, or lighting the whole room in pink, your entertainment company will set the tone and transform your venue. Your DJ/Entertainment company will also provide you with fun props, photo booths, and lead games during the party. All that left after that is choosing your own ensemble and making sure it’s comfortable enough to show the kids what the Running Man is supposed Sweet Sixteen with blue uplighting and spotlightsto look like. And embarrassing your daughter while doing so (what fun is being a parent if you can’t embarrass your kids?).

After you’ve chosen your DJ/Entertainment company you’re on your way to an awesome party! Now you can really start planning every little detail. But reaching that decision will take some time and some homework. Choosing a DJ can be tricky work. It’s important to choose a DJ that you get along with and is flexible to your needs and hectic schedule. When it comes to DJ/Entertainment companies it is essential to do your homework and make sure you research your options thoroughly.

Ask questions!

Once you’ve found a few DJs you like contact them and ask a few questions. Not sure what to ask? Here’s some basic questions to ask your DJ/Entertainment company:

  • How long have you been in business?
  • What type of insurance and back up equipment do you have?
  • How many Sweet Sixteens do you host each year?
  • What age entertainer will I be working with?
  • Are you up to date on all the latest trends? (Dances, music, etc.)

It’s not hard to excite a group of teenagers, Sweet Sixteen with purple uplightingbut that doesn’t mean your DJ should lack the skills to read the crowd. It is very important for DJs to know their audience and to know which songs will give a desired reaction. Whether it’s getting them dancing or clearing the dance floor for the dinner or candles.

The DJ/Entertainment company you choose should be equipped to make your daughter’s Sweet Sixteen an event that she will always remember and meet, or exceed, your expectations. They should be able to provide props and effects that match your theme and communicate in a way that is convenient for you, whether that’s email, in person, or over the phone. And don’t forget to have fun, too! After all the work you’re putting into this event, you deserve to enjoy it, too!
